What you see

  • Finding broken_internal_links with specific URLs.
  • Menu points to a removed service / old product.
  • Footer “Terms” → 404 after migration.
  • Client: “Site looks fine” — broken link is below the fold.

Why it happens

Homepage is a hub — stale URLs accumulate in menus, widgets, and page builders.

Common causes:

  • Deleted product without redirect.
  • Permalink structure change without 301.
  • External domain in menu marked as internal.
  • Staging URL in production content.
  • PDF / # anchor to missing id.

What Puluno does

ApplySEOsuggest redirects for known paths (Link scope)
VerifyExplorersame homepage — finding gone or count down

Content (menu labels) must be fixed by the agency — plugin does not rewrite copy.

Step by step

  1. Explorer homepage — list broken links.
  2. For each URL: 301 redirect or fix the menu link.
  3. Puluno SEO → Link scope / redirect manager — Apply redirects.
  4. Remove dead menu items in WordPress.
  5. Verify: Explorer again on the same URL.
  6. Larger site: deeper crawl in Center, not homepage only.

Rollback — undo the change

Redirect Apply can be reverted in Center.

Menu edits have no plugin rollback — page revision / git.

When it is not Puluno

  • Link intentionally to external service that is sometimes down — Guard uptime, not SEO.
  • Broken images (404 on /uploads/) — Images / different finding.
  • Third-party affiliate links — outside internal link audit.
